With 375hp, all-wheel drive and a 550-litre boot, Toyota’s latest electric SUV is built for those who need their EV to do a little more than shuttle between home and the office.
Singapore — If you like the idea of an electric SUV but find yourself wishing for a little more space, a little more power and the ability to venture beyond the usual school run, Toyota has something new for you.
The all-new Toyota bZ4X Touring is now available for viewing and test drives at Toyota showrooms in Singapore. Priced from S$263,888, it builds on the regular bZ4X with a more powerful all-wheel-drive powertrain, a roomier rear end and a considerably more useful boot.
In other words, it is the bZ4X for those who have more to carry — whether that means the family, their luggage or an entirely unnecessary amount of shopping.

More power, with all four wheels doing the work
The bZ4X Touring produces a combined 375hp through its all-wheel-drive system, giving it a substantial performance boost and the added traction of power delivered to all four wheels.
Toyota has also fitted its Dual-function X-MODE system, which manages traction across different surfaces, including mud, dirt, deep snow and unpaved terrain. There is also Downhill Assist Control, which helps maintain a controlled speed on steep descents without requiring the driver to keep working the brakes.

Now, Singapore may not exactly be blessed with mountain passes or particularly challenging off-road trails. But the additional traction and control should still be useful when conditions are less than ideal, even if our idea of an adventure often involves finding a car park at the other end.
A cabin with the right equipment
Inside, the bZ4X Touring retains the clean, horizontal dashboard layout of the bZ4X, with an emphasis on space and visibility.
A high-mounted digital instrument display sits above the steering wheel, giving the driver a clear view of essential information. The display also provides EV-specific details, including battery status, state of charge, charging performance and estimated time to reach 80 per cent charge.

The centrepiece of the dashboard is a 14-inch multimedia touchscreen, while the floating centre console houses a rotary-style gear selector and two wireless smartphone charging pads — one for the driver and another for the front passenger.
Rear occupants get dedicated air-conditioning vents and two 60W USB charging ports. A nine-speaker JBL sound system also comes as part of the package, which should help keep everyone entertained on longer journeys.
A bigger boot for the business of living
The Touring’s biggest selling point is arguably the extra space at the back.
Its extended rear profile brings approximately 22 per cent more cargo capacity than the regular bZ4X, with 550 litres of boot space available with the rear seats in place. The longer body also provides an additional 48mm of rear headroom.
The boot opening is 21mm wider and 23mm taller, making it easier to load bulkier items. A power-operated tailgate, cargo hooks, boot lighting and rear-seat folding levers located in the cargo area further improve everyday usability.
Toyota has even provided a retractable tonneau cover that can be stowed beneath the boot floor when not required. Roof rails are fitted as standard, supporting loads of up to 80kg while driving and 317kg when stationary.

That should make the bZ4X Touring a more convincing companion for family holidays, outdoor equipment and the occasional impulse purchase that turns out to be considerably larger than expected.
Familiar Toyota styling, with a more rugged stance
The bZ4X Touring wears Toyota’s distinctive Hammerhead front-end design, with slim lighting elements and black skid accents giving it a purposeful appearance.
The wider bumper, lower skid plate, matte-black wheel-arch cladding and ladder-type roof rails reinforce its more rugged character. An active grille shutter is also fitted as part of the exterior package.
It looks ready for a little more adventure than the average electric SUV might suggest. Whether owners actually take it beyond the city is another matter, but at least the option is there.

Safety and driver assistance
The bZ4X Touring comes equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, including the Pre-Collision System and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.
Blind Spot Monitoring and Safe Exit Assist provide additional awareness of approaching traffic and cyclists, including when occupants are preparing to open the doors.
For those who would rather not turn every parking manoeuvre into a multi-point exercise, the SUV also features an Auto Parking system that supports perpendicular and parallel parking. A Panoramic View Monitor provides a 360-degree view around the vehicle to help with manoeuvring in tighter spaces.
More room in Toyota’s electric line-up
The bZ4X Touring joins the Urban Cruiser and bZ4X in Toyota’s growing battery-electric vehicle line-up in Singapore, sitting alongside the brand’s established range of hybrids.
Toyota’s wider electrification strategy continues to offer buyers different routes towards lower-emission motoring, rather than betting everything on a single powertrain. For drivers who want a fully electric SUV but need more cargo room and all-wheel-drive capability, the Touring adds another option to the mix.
The all-new Toyota bZ4X Touring is now available for viewing and test drives at Borneo Motors showrooms at 33 Leng Kee Road, Singapore 159102, and 17 Ubi Road 4, Singapore 408611.
With 375hp, all-wheel drive and a 550-litre boot, the bZ4X Touring makes a stronger case for itself as a practical family EV. At S$263,888, it will still need to make sense against a growing field of electric SUVs, but at least it has the space to carry the family — and all the things they insist on bringing along.
