In support of Renal care patients, Stamford Tyres unveils charity boutique at its revamped Jurong Flagship Store
Singapore – Stamford Tyres, one of Singapore major homegrown tyre and wheel specialists, have announced the rebranding of their Jurong Retail Centre. Now named the Jurong Flagship Store, the new retail space offers an elevated experience for its customers, with its modern facilities. This includes an automotive workshop with ten bays (including one alignment bay). In keeping with their strong focus on wheels and tyres, the facility also has eight dedicated tyre fitting bays, and an additional alignment bay.

The new flagship store, located at 19 Lok Yang Way, is equipped with 31 parking lots, ensuring ample space for visiting customers. Stamford tyres, which has grown to become one of the largest independent tyre and wheel distributors in the Southeast Asian region, markets Falken, Dunlop, Continental, Kumho and Maxam tyres. They have also developed their own homegrown brands – Sumo Firenza, Sumo Tire and SSW Wheels.
In addition to the store’s rebranding, Stamford Tyres has also introduced their Discovery Shop high-end thrift store. The concept which was seeded by late founder, Mr Wee Kok Wah, his wife Dawn and several of their friends and associates, with proceeds going to the Singapore General Hospital’s (SGH) Advancing Resources for Kidney Diseases (ARK) Fund; where 100 percent of its donations go towards the improving of kidney care and treatment.

The Discovery Shop, currently has a selection of precious items which are professionally appraised and valued. Individuals, families and corporate buyers are welcome to browse the thrift store, which is located on the second floor of the facility.
Mrs Wee, who is Executive Chairman of Stamford Tyres, said: “We’ve been planning for this shop for some time now, and now it has finally come to fruition. Many of us are getting on in age, and we feel that this is a good way for us to declutter and at the same time raise money for a cause that is close to our hearts.”
Mrs Wee’s late husband was a kidney patient, and so is their son. They are among a growing group of sufferers.
According to the latest Singapore Renal Registry Annual Report, over 2,000 people were diagnosed with kidney failure, up from over 1,500 cases, just nine years prior.
Associate Professor Tan Chieh Suai, head and senior consultant at SGH’s Department of Renal Medicine, said: “We can definitely do better for kidney failure patients. The SGH Advancing Resources for Kidney Diseases, or ARK Fund which we set up last year will empower us to provide cutting-edge treatments, advance research, and elevate patient care. We hope to one day be able to reverse the grim outlook associated with the condition, benefiting patients not just in Singapore, but potentially those around the world too.”
“The initiative represents our dedication to fostering community engagement and promoting sustainability,” Mrs Wee added. “It is a place where everyone can come and appreciate rare vintage and modern finds.”
Stamford tyres is no stranger to good causes. Their Corporate Social Responsibility efforts in the past, include St Luke’s Eldercare and the Singapore Red Cross.
The Discovery Shop is open from 9am to 5:30pm, from Monday to Saturday, and is closed during public holidays.
