Singapore’s best selling EV brand, BYD expands their lineup with the BYD SEAL 6 DM-i. I guess someone was listening when they also unveiled a Touring variant
Singapore – BYD, Singapore’s best selling EV brand has (again) expanded their lineup. The new BYD SEAL 6 DM-i plug-in hybrid is offered in two body styles, and three variants.

The BYD SEAL 6 DM‑i Dynamic and Premium sedan and BYD SEAL 6 DM‑i Touring, are designed to deliver excellent range. The Premium Sedan variant is able to cover up to 1,300km, while the Dynamic Sedan and Touring variants both can travel up t0 1,400km. At the core of the SEAL 6 DM‑i sits the BYD’s advanced Super DM‑i (Dual Mode – Intelligent) plug‑in hybrid system, which is designed to prioritise electric drive over combustion.

The system enables the SEAL 6 DM‑i to function like an electric vehicle during short, city‑based journeys – where EVs inherently have the advantage over combustion engined vehicles. For longer distances, especially during highway driving, the hybridised system seamlessly switches to its high-efficiency 1.5 litre engine.

Another highlight of the SEAL 6 DM‑i which ties with BYD’s origins as a battery manufacturer, is in its advanced 12‑volt LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) low‑voltage battery, which directly replaces the traditional lead-acid battery, which is common in conventional vehicles. The 12V LFP delivers long-lasting performance and requires no routine maintenance. The result is lower total ownership cost over the lifespan of the vehicle.

“The introduction of the SEAL 6 DM-i represents an important step in BYD’s journey in Singapore,” said James Ng, Managing Director of BYD Singapore and President of BYD Philippines. “As Singapore’s number one car brand, we are focused on offering products that combine efficiency, practicality and advanced technology. The SEAL 6 DM-i delivers exactly that, giving drivers the benefits of electric driving without compromising flexibility for longer journeys.”

Both body styles of the BYD SEAL 6 DM-i feature a wraparound interior layout, which creates a sense of openness. This is further enhanced by high-quality materials, soft-touch surfaces and carefully considered finishes. Up in front, the plug-in hybrid receives a modern digital cockpit, with a large infotainment display providing seamless access to navigation, media and vehicle information.

Family-friendly practicality is also high-up on the must-haves. The BYD SEAL 6 DM‑i sedan offers a 491 litre boot, which can be expanded to 1,370 litres with the rear seats folded down. The BYD SEAL 6 DM‑i Touring offers even more versatility, with its 670 litre boot, which expands to 1,535 litres, with the rear seats folded.

“With the SEAL 6 DM‑i, we focused on creating a car that fits naturally into the daily lives of Singapore drivers,” said Adelene Tan, Managing Director, Vantage Automotive Limited. “From the spacious interior and intuitive technology to the choice between sedan and Touring body styles, the SEAL 6 DM‑i is designed to deliver comfort, flexibility and confidence for a wide range of customer needs.”

At launch, the BYD SEAL 6 DM‑i Dynamic is priced from S$191,888, while the BYD SEAL 6 DM‑i Touring is available from S$195,888. The sedan‑focused BYD SEAL 6 DM‑i Premium which tops the line‑up is priced at S$199,888.
All prices include S$8,000 worth of ownership benefits, giving customers added value at point of purchase.
