With the new additions Jaecoo’s Singapore ups its lineup to four models
Singapore – Vertex Automobile, Jaecoo and Omoda’s local dealership recently unveiled two new SUV models. The all-electric Jaecoo 5 and the Jaecoo 8 Super Hybrid 7-Seater brings Jaecoo’s Singapore lineup of electrified vehicles to four.

Jaecoo 5 BEV
The new Jaecoo 5 BEV by positioning, sits below the Land Rover Defender-aping Jaecoo 6 SUV. At launch, there is a single variant available, with a front-driven setup, which produces 155kW and 288Nm. The current COE environment which does not justify fielding a Category A COE car, is probably the reason why the local dealership has committed to a singular Category B COE variant.

By design, the Jaecoo 5, with its sloping roofline, front and rear lighting signature seems to pay homage to the Range Rover Sport. The cabin sports a common Chinese EV narrative of a comprehensive list of comfort and convenience features, which includes wireless mobile charging, wireless mobile connective for both Apple and Android devices, voice assistance and even a One-Touch Pet Mode.

To further attract buyers, the Jaecoo 5 also has Camping Mode and a Karaoke Function, turning the compact electric SUV into an entertainment hub.
Its suite of ADAS safety features with 19 functions is among the most comprehensive in its class. The system includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Rear Collision Warning, Intelligent Evasive System and Traffic Jam Assist among others.

Other noteworthy features include a 35 litre washable frunk, dual-layer soundproofing for the front windows and something Jaecoo calls an ‘Intelligent Quiet Driving Experience’.
At launch, the Jaecoo 5 is available in five colours – Carbon Crystal Black, Khaki White, Fjord Grey, Misty Blue and Arctic Green. Prices begin at $171,999, Inclusive of COE.
Jaecoo 8 Super Hybrid 7-Seater SUV
The other vehicle launched was the brand’s flagship SUV, the Jaecoo J8 Super Hybrid 7-Seater SUV. The D-Segment three-row SUV boasts an impressive Total Combined Range of 1,200km, thanks to its Super Hybrid System (SHS). The electric drive, paired with a 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine, puts out an impressive system output of 340kW and 580Nm.

The CDC Magnetic Levitation Suspension – Jaecoo’s Continuous Damping Control system, provides limousine-level comfort (something I can vouch for, since I recently participated in Jaecoo’s Takumi Challenge). The suspension system is able to read the road ahead, and make fine adjustments in real time, offering optimum damping according to road conditions and driving inputs.

For a touch of luxury and comfort Jaecoo 8 is equipped with Nappa Leather upholstery, with ventilation for front and middle row occupants, front occupants also benefit from an 8-point massage function. There is also a 3-mode Built-in Fragrance System to keep the interior smelling fresh.

Other notable features include an Innovative Driver Headrest Speaker System, Head-up Display and a Cooled Centre Armrest.
Jaecoo 8 Super Hybrid 7-Seater SUV starts from $241,999 with COE.

As a mark of confidence, Omoda Jaecoo Singapore has recorded nearly 600% increase in sales year-on-year, entering 2026, with the brand becoming the third best-selling EV brand here.

Ms Sng Khai Hing, Executive Director, Vertex Automobile shared, “Today marks a pivotal moment for Omoda Jaecoo in Singapore. With the Jaecoo 5 and Jaecoo 8, we are bringing world-class technology and genuine innovation to Singapore drivers at compelling value. Our growth story speaks for itself — from zero to 1 million units globally in three years, and nearly 600% sales growth right here at home. We are just getting started.”
