The Hongqi E-HS9 electric full-size luxury SUV will be the first to debut in Singapore, in the first half of 2026
Singapore – Our local automotive landscape has seen a lot of change of late. Chinese automotive brands have trickled into our nation, with heavyweights that include BYD, GAC Aion, and MG, with other contenders joining the fight such as Zeekr, Xpeng, Deepal, Omoda, Jaecoo, Ora, Skyworth, Dongfeng, and most recently, Avatr.
And it almost seems like the Chinese automotive “machine” has responded to the late Jiang Zemin’s “Go Forth” policy, China’s car brands have been craning their necks outwards in search of fertile lands, one of them being Singapore. Given sky-high COE prices, Chinese cars have done well here, winning on price, with cars which are well equipped.

Hongqi, which is China’s oldest carmaker, will be another brand arriving on our shores soon. Founded in 1958 with the name meaning “red flag”, it is meant to carry powerful connotations of national pride and status. In-fact, Hongqi which is part of state-owned China First Automotive Works (FAW), is known for building China’s official state cars since its inception. Tradition continues, with them still building the state limousine used by China’s President Xi Jinping and its top officials.
The initial-phase launch model to reach our shores will be the E-HS9, an electric full-sized luxury SUV. This launch will then be accompanied by a premium mid-size SUV, the G117, as well as a family-targeted electric SUV, the E007. Hongqi’s lineup will feature a mix of powertrain options beyond EVs, ensuring a comprehensive range for customers who value luxurious tech with Eastern aesthetics in the mid-to-high-end automotive market.
Eurokars, which is celebrating its 40th Anniversary, will be launching IM Motors – a premium brand, with the same parent as MG by the end of the year. Hongqi, which is slated to commence operations in the first half of 2026, with a dedicated showroom along Leng Kee Road, will be another feather in the cap for Singapore’s largest privately owned car distributorship. Hongqi will be part of the Eurokars Singapore showcase of nearly ten brands, which include Rolls-Royce, Pagani, BMW, MINI, Mazda, and McLaren.

Reflecting on this milestone during the Group’s 40th anniversary, Mr. Karsono Kwee, Executive Chairman of Eurokars Group, commented, “As Eurokars Group celebrates four decades of driving luxury experiences, we are delighted to welcome Hongqi to our family. With our extensive experience representing esteemed automotive brands, our conviction in sustainable mobility, and a customer-focused approach rooted in genuine passion, we are confident in our ability to cultivate and grow the Hongqi brand in Singapore.”
