Vantage Automotive drops Peugeot to focus on BYD. Cycle & Carriage takes over as distributor of the French marque
Cycle & Carriage Singapore has expanded the portfolio of Stellantis-owned automotive brands it currently offers in Singapore, having partnered with Peugeot and in final agreements with Chinese startup Leapmotor as their authorised dealership. These two brands come in addition to Citroën, whose cars Cycle & Carriage has distributed since 2006.

This comes after Vantage Automotive’s decision to part ways with its role as the official Peugeot dealer. Mr Anthony Teo, Vantage Automotive’s managing director, told Straits Times that they have decided to focus more resources towards BYD, a brand which has gained significant market share in Singapore. BYD sold 6191 new cars last year, a four-fold increase from 2023.
Existing Peugeot owners will still have their service packages fulfilled by Vantage Automotive, but warranty claims are now exclusively managed by Cycle & Carriage.

Additionally, with arrangements to be the official local dealer of Chinese newcomer Leapmotor in the finishing stage, Cycle and Carriage hopes to gain a sizable share of Singapore’s growing electric car market through the Leapmotor C10, Leapmotor’s first global model. This is the third EV-oriented car brand that the dealer plans to distribute in Singapore, after they previously secured agreements with Great Wall Motor and SAIC Motor to bring in the ORA and Maxus marques respectively.

“Our expertise in delivering reliable, customer-centric solutions has made Citroën a household name for both personal and commercial vehicles. The addition of Peugeot, known for its luxurious cars and premium craftsmanship, and Leapmotor, a rising star in EV innovation, further strengthens our portfolio and positions Cycle & Carriage to continue delivering the best mobility solutions to all customers.” said Wilfrid Foo, Managing Director of Direct Motor Interests at Jardine Cycle & Carriage Limited.

To account for these product expansions, the newly renovated Cycle & Carriage complex at 239 Alexandra Road comprising the Peugeot, Citroën and Leapmotor showrooms will be open by April 2025.
