The new Category A Sealion 7 electric SUV rolls with the times

Singapore – BYD is already riding on a high, and it doesnโ€™t seem like they are showing any signs of slowing down. The new Category A Sealion 7 electric SUV is their answer to the sign of the times.

Badged as the BYD Sealion 7 Dynamic, the new electric SUV sits below the โ€˜Premiumโ€™ trim, and the All-Wheel Drive Performance variant.

While it is identical to the mid-tier car, the difference lies in the drivetrain being tuned to deliver 100kW, which drops the car into the Category A COE box. Performance is blunted by the power reduction, therefore the new electric SUV clocks 100km/h in a more leisurely 11.8 seconds – a whole 5.1 seconds slower than the โ€˜Premiumโ€™ Cat B car. The Sealion 7 Dynamicโ€™s 71.8kWh battery is also smaller, which gives it a WLTP range of 405km.

The Sealion 7 Dynamic may no doubt be the entry car to the range, but BYD has not skimped too much on equipment. It comes equipped with a ventilated power adjustable front seats, a panoramic glass roof, a soundproof double glazed windshield and front doors, and a 15.6-inch rotating infotainment touchscreen, which supports wireless connectivity for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and 4G connectivity with over-the-air updates. To ensure that air quality is kept at its best, the Sealion 7 is also equipped with a PM2.5 filtration system, paired with a Negative ion air purifier.

The Sealion 7 Dynamic is available in four colours, Aurora White, Atlantis Grey, Shark Grey and Cosmos Black. At press time, it retails for $214,888, inclusive of COE. This would be $16,000 off the price of the Premium trim car.
