This year, Peugeot focuses on accelerating its transition to electrification and sustainable motoring while ensuring that no customer is left behind
On 15 February, Peugeot held its annual PEUGEOT E-LION Day virtual media conference, where the company put a huge emphasis on its Electrification Strategy for 2025.
Alain Favey, the newly-appointed CEO of Peugeot, highlighted Peugeot’s commitment to customer satisfaction and its responsibility for supporting global partners such as its retailers. Moreover, he emphasised Peugeot’s commitment to achieving its Carbon Net Zero target in the face of rapid climate change, and its efforts to achieve its electric transition efficiently through its reliance on its five key “E-pillars”: Electric, Efficiency, Experience, Education and Environment.
Electric
In 2024, Peugeot experienced the highest growth in electric car sales to private customers of any brand in Europe and doubled its orders for EVs. This is mainly due to Peugeot now having the widest EV lineup of any brand in Europe with 12 models, evidence of its rapid expansion into electrification. Notably, the new 3008 was one of its best-selling models, surpassing 120,000 orders. Constituting an industry-leading 22% of these orders was the multiple award-winning, all-electric version of the E-3008.

However, Agnes Tesson-Faget, Peugeot’s Head of Product, implies that this is only the beginning of Peugeot’s electric-oriented transition. Peugeot has announced the arrival of a 5-seater version of the PEUGEOT E-5008 before the 2nd half of 2025. Aimed at customers who wish for a larger loading capacity while retaining a pleasurable driving experience, it offers 994 litres of boot space with the second row in place, 78 litres more than the 7-seat version, and a whopping 2310 litres with the second row folded down. Global sales of a new high-performance pure-electric variant of the E-3008 and E-5008 containing a 325 hp Dual Motor with all-wheel drive will also start in the coming weeks.
Efficiency
Peugeot also underlined its success in achieving efficiency, notably the ADAC Ecotest ranking the PEUGEOT E-208 and E-308 as the most efficient of the 84 EVs currently on the market. Additionally, the PEUGEOT E-3008 and E-5008 Long Range offer a competitive selling point for long-distance drivers due to their market-leading range among electric SUVs, being able to travel 700 km and 668 km respectively on a full charge.

Moreover, a battery preheating system has been newly introduced on these two models, which increases the range of the first charge during long journeys in cold temperatures. In the coming months, the driver can use the Trip Planner tool to outline their trip itinerary such that the pre-heating of the battery will be activated automatically, allowing it to be recharged as soon as the driver plans to stop.
However, Peugeot ensures that its customers have adequate time to adapt to an all-electric future by making their hybrid e-DCS6 powertrain available on almost every model from the 208 to the 5008. This new hybrid 48V system contains a newly-developed 136 hp petrol engine and an electric motor, complemented by a 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Its battery charges while the car is in motion, giving the car increased low-end torque while making it more fuel efficient. Peugeot additionally offers efficient plug-in hybrid technology on the 308, 408, 508, 3008, and 5008. For example, the 3008 offers 87 km of pure-electric range while consuming only 0.9 l/100 km.
Experience
Phil York, Peugeot’s Head of Marketing and Communications mentioned Peugeot’s plans to make the Peugeot EV ownership experience as easy and pleasurable as possible. The brand aims to enhance the joy of owning a Peugeot through the “dynamism, agility, responsiveness, and performance offered by all 100% electric Peugeots.”
Peugeot also recognises that range is a main push factor against owning an EV. Thus, this has been addressed with the development of rapid chargers that can charge Peugeot EV batteries from 20% to 80% in less than half an hour.
For any European customers worried about reliability issues, the “Peugeot Electric Promise” alleviates these uncertainties through an 8-year / 160,000 km warranty on both the vehicle and the battery. Customers are also provided a free Wall Box to charge their cars within their homes and a Free2Move Charge pass that allows owners to use nearly one million charging points across Europe. With more than 5000 retail and service points in Europe, customers will never be too far from any assistance they require either.

Education
Importantly, Peugeot emphasised the power of education in ensuring sustainability, environmental protection and biodiversity.
In 2024, Peugeot became the Official Education Partner of the Under The Pole programme, which aims to increase and spread knowledge about ocean preservation. Peugeot supports Under The Pole by making educational content for children, organising joint presentations at automotive, diving, and scientific research events, and providing its vehicles for logistic support.

Peugeot is also the official Education Partner of Born Free, a wildlife charity organisation that participates in the conservation of wild animals, and assists them through funding, vehicle support and fundraising. Peugeot will continue its support in 2025 by providing Born Free with Peugeot Landtrek pickup trucks for logistics use at Kenya Feline Sanctuary.

Environment
Peugeot aims to reduce its carbon emissions not just through vehicle electrification, but also the use of more sustainable industrial materials and practices in its production process. Peugeot pledges that they will adopt more sustainable industrial methods and materials in their product manufacturing process, which will be pivotal in Stellantis’ goal to achieve Carbon Net Zero by 2038.
Peugeot has already made progress in achieving these goals as their factories currently use 60% decarbonised electricity, intending to reach 100% by 2030. Furthermore, 40% of the carpet and dashboard weight in the new Peugeot E-3008 are made from recycled materials, while 85% of the materials used in the car overall are recyclable.
Through these 5 pillars, Peugeot hopes to become the leading EV brand in Europe while being the second-biggest outside Europe, all while doing it in an environmentally-friendly manner and enriching people’s knowledge on the importance of resource sustainability.
“Becoming PEUGEOT Brand CEO gives me great pride, but also a strong sense of responsibility. The brand is strong, the line-up is complete, with a unique combination of electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid models on the same platforms. We are confident that we have all the assets to succeed and contribute to a sustainable future for tomorrow’s generation”, said Peugeot CEO Alain Favey.
