Irene Nikkein returns to BMW Asia as Director of Sales, while Daniel Nentwich joins as Director of Marketing, bringing experience from Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and BMW of North America

Singapore — BMW Group Asia is strengthening its leadership team with two appointments covering sales and marketing. Irene Nikkein has taken up the role of Director of Sales, BMW Asia, while Daniel Nentwich will become Director of Marketing from December.

Nikkein’s appointment took effect on 1 September 2026, marking her return to BMW Asia after 16 years. Nentwich, meanwhile, joins from BMW of North America and will assume his new position on 1 December 2026.

According to BMW Group Asia, the appointments bring complementary experience across sales leadership, dealer network development, brand building and customer engagement — all important ingredients in keeping a premium automotive brand moving in the right direction.

A familiar face returns to BMW Asia

Nikkein brings more than 15 years of leadership experience across the BMW Group. Most recently, she spent five years as Regional Director of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Asia Pacific, where she led the business through a period of growth and helped strengthen the marque’s regional presence.

During her tenure, Rolls-Royce established local offices in Japan and South Korea, alongside the launch of its new Private Office Seoul.

Before moving to Rolls-Royce, Nikkein spent nearly 11 years with MINI. Her roles included Regional Marketing Manager for MINI Asia, followed by Head of MINI Brand Communication and Product Management in Japan.

And then I literally said: “Ehh… I didn’t know you went over!

Her return to BMW Asia therefore comes with experience spanning sales, marketing and the luxury end of the automotive business — a useful combination in a region where customer expectations and market conditions continue to evolve.

From North America to Asia

Nentwich brings more than a decade of international experience across the automotive and luxury sectors in the United States and Europe.

He is currently Regional Marketing Director for the Northeast Region at BMW of North America, where he leads integrated marketing, customer relationship management, experiential activations and strategic partnerships.

His career with the BMW Group has also included leadership roles across marketing, sales, retail performance and used vehicle strategy. BMW highlights his experience in digital transformation, dealer network development and commercial growth, alongside his work building teams across different functions and markets.

He will take over as Director of Marketing, BMW Asia, on 1 December 2026.

Building for the road ahead

Welcoming the appointments, Rene Gerhard, Managing Director of BMW Group Asia, said the pair bring complementary strengths across the customer journey, from sales and dealer development to marketing and customer engagement.

The appointments come as BMW continues to develop its business across the region. With Nikkein returning to the organisation after her time with Rolls-Royce and Nentwich bringing experience from one of BMW’s largest regional markets, the new leadership team combines familiarity with the group and an international perspective.

For BMW Asia, the task is to turn that experience into continued brand growth and stronger customer relationships. The cars may be the most visible part of the business, but the people steering the operation matter, too.
