Lexus doubles down on its multi-pathway electrification strategy with the all-new ES in hybrid and electric forms, alongside the updated RZ 350e

Singapore — Lexus is giving Singapore buyers more ways to go electric — or at least partially electric — with the arrival of the all-new ES and new RZ 350e.

Unveiled to participants of Lexus Cup Singapore 2026 at the Singapore Island Country Club, the two models strengthen Lexus’ multi-pathway approach to electrification, spanning full hybrids and battery-electric vehicles.

The headline act is the all-new Lexus ES, which is being offered in Singapore in two distinct flavours: the ES 350h Full Hybrid Electric and ES 350e Pure Electric. So, whether you want electrons doing all the work or merely most of it, Lexus has you covered.

The ES 350h carries forward Lexus’ self-charging hybrid technology, while the ES 350e provides a fully electric, emissions-free driving experience. The latter was first shown to the Singapore market at the Singapore Motorshow 2026.

Lexus has also put considerable attention into the ES’ traditional strengths of comfort and space. The new model gets Lexus’ New Generation Seat with split construction, with the company claiming best-in-class rear passenger space. Boot capacity has also been optimised to accommodate up to four golf bags — presumably useful if your idea of a strenuous Saturday involves 18 holes rather than a track day.

Inside, the ES introduces what Lexus calls the world’s first Responsive Hidden Switches, integrating physical controls into the minimalist dashboard. There is also a 17-speaker Mark Levinson surround sound system, six cabin illumination themes and active noise and sound control.

Safety technology includes the new Lexus Safety System+ 4.0, featuring Pre-Collision System, Emergency Steering Assist and low-speed acceleration suppression.

Alongside the ES is the updated Lexus RZ 350e, Lexus’ pure-electric SUV. The new RZ receives improvements to its battery and motor output, together with revisions to key components and the vehicle structure.

Lexus says driving range has been improved, while charging capability has also been enhanced. The electric powertrain has undergone a complete revision, with a greater emphasis on performance, practicality and driving pleasure.

The RZ retains Lexus’ Tazuna Cockpit concept and Omotenashi-inspired cabin, while safety features include Pre-Collision System, Lane Tracing Assist, Blind Spot Monitor, Safe Exit Assist and a Panoramic View Monitor.

The move is part of Lexus’ broader electrification strategy, which it describes as a multi-pathway approach, covering Hybrid Electric Vehicles, Performance Hybrids, Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles and Battery Electric Vehicles.

Lexus has been playing in the electrified premium-car game for some time, having introduced the RX 400h in 2005 as the first luxury hybrid. The brand says it has since sold more than 3.25 million electrified vehicles globally, including HEVs, PHEVs and BEVs.

For Singapore, the strategy is fairly straightforward: rather than betting everything on one particular type of electrification, Lexus is offering customers a choice.

As Colin Christie, Managing Director of Borneo Motors Singapore, puts it, the aim is to allow customers to choose the solution that best fits their lifestyle while retaining the quiet refinement, effortless performance and efficiency associated with Lexus.
