Sime Motors’ pre-owned arm – Auto Selection launches dedicated EV brand, bringing you complimentary battery health certification and new Drivecare aftersales facility

Singapore – Auto Selection, the pre-owned vehicle arm of Sime Motors Singapore, has launched EV NEXT, a dedicated pre-owned electric vehicle brand designed to give buyers a little more peace of mind when shopping for a used EV.

Every EV NEXT vehicle comes with complimentary battery State-of-Health (SOH) testing and certification as standard. More importantly, only cars achieving a minimum battery SOH of 85 per cent qualify for sale under the EV NEXT brand.

Because when buying a used EV, knowing how many kilometres are on the clock is useful. Knowing how much life is left in the battery is arguably rather more useful.

Battery health is the new mileage

For conventional cars, mileage has traditionally been one of the first things buyers look at when judging a pre-owned vehicle. With EVs, things are a little less straightforward. The battery is one of the most important and expensive components of the car, and its condition can have a significant bearing on performance and long-term ownership costs.

Each qualifying vehicle receives a battery SOH test, with the results documented for the buyer. Battery health is classified as either Excellent, for vehicles with 85 per cent SOH or above, or Pristine, for those achieving 90 per cent or above.

The accompanying certification also confirms that the vehicle has undergone a 72-point vehicle health check, mileage verification and an accident-free assessment.

“Battery health has become the new mileage,” said Christopher Chin, Managing Director of Auto Selection and FASST Leasing. He added that battery-health information is not always readily available in today’s pre-owned EV market, making it harder for consumers to make an informed decision.

From demo cars to customer trade-ins

EV NEXT will offer a curated selection of pre-owned EVs sourced primarily from Sime Motors Singapore’s network. These include demonstration vehicles, management cars and customer trade-ins from Performance Motors Limited (PML) and Vantage Automotive Limited (VAL), alongside Auto Selection trade-ins and vehicles purchased directly.

As Singapore’s EV market is moving beyond its early-adopter phase, with owners of older electric cars increasingly looking to trade up to newer models. That naturally creates more supply of pre-owned EVs — while also opening the door for buyers who want to go electric without necessarily buying brand new.

Auto Selection says it has also seen more first-time EV buyers visiting its showroom to explore its pre-owned offerings. Therefore, for some buyers, a pre-owned EV could provide a more accessible route into electric motoring, particularly as the choice of used electric models continues to grow.

More than just a battery certificate

Alongside the new brand, Auto Selection has launched Drivecare, a new multi-franchise aftersales facility located at the same Ubi Road 4 site.

Drivecare will support servicing across Auto Selection’s growing portfolio of pre-owned cars and EVs, while also playing a role in refurbishing EV NEXT vehicles before they reach customers.

“Buying with confidence is only one part of the ownership journey,” said Lawrence Tan, Managing Director of Performance Motors Limited and Sime Motors Singapore. “With Drivecare, Auto Selection is strengthening the support available to our customers beyond the point of sale.”

By combining battery health certification, vehicle inspections and dedicated aftersales support, Auto Selection is attempting to tackle one of the biggest issues surrounding used EVs. With a minimum 85 percent battery SOH required for EV NEXT vehicles, you can purchased a used EV from EV NEXT with confidence.

The EV NEXT showroom and Drivecare facility are located at 1 Ubi Road 4, Singapore 408607.
