Singapore – The new BMW M2 CS is serious work by BMW M for a more track-focused machine, but still functions as the daily drivable M car you need.
The M2 CS starts life as a base M2, the latter which already sports some serious performance. The CS stands out with more from under the hood. It receives boost from a pair of mono-scroll turbochargers, each feeding three cylinders. Power from the closed deck inline-six 3 litre is bumped up to 530hp, some 50hp more. Torque numbers also see an increase of 50Nm, to 650Nm.

Along with performance tweaks, the M2 CS has also gone through a significant weight reduction. This comes largely from a multitude of exterior and interior components made from carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP). In all, the M2 CS is approximately 30kg lighter than the standard M2.

All these enhancements translate to a car which is quicker off the line. The CS’s 100km/h benchmark is done in 3.8 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds quicker than the standard M2; it also now clocks 200km/h in 11.7 seconds, which is 1.2 seconds quicker. Its top speed of 302km/h is electronically limited.
For added stability, the M2 CS’s ride height has been reduced by 8mm. The suspension’s bespoke tuning for its springs, dampers and chassis control systems further contribute to its remarkable handling. Additionally, the car’s Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and M Dynamic Mode have been optimised precisely to meet the demands of driving on the racetrack.

Stopping power is via an M Compound braking system. BMW M has also made available an optional M Carbon ceramic brake system for on-track longevity. Grip is provided by Pirelli P Zeros, set on staggered 275/35 ZR19 at the front and 285/30 ZR20 at the rear.

On the inside, the M2 CS is decked out with a premium Harman Kardon Surround Sound System and BMW Live Cockpit Professional. The infotainment is backed by their now familiar Operating System 8.5, which powers the 12.3-inch information display. For better driver focus, the BMW Head-Up Display, paired with Augmented View on the control display comes as standard.

“Like every CS and CSL model before it, the BMW M2 CS is produced in very small numbers globally,” said Lars Nielsen, Managing Director, BMW Group Asia. “We have been lucky enough to secure a select number of units for the Singapore market. As the latest version has a limited production of only one year, it’s no surprise that all our allocated units have already found their owners. This speaks volumes about how the BMW M2 CS is not just a car, but a prized experience that passionate drivers here value deeply.”
