Mercedes-Maybach expands its lineup with the brand’s first-ever two-seater, the sportiest Maybach to date that delivers the ultimate open-air driving experience

Singapore – on 30th September, Mercedes-Benz Singapore introduced the latest addition to the Mercedes-Maybach portfolio – the SL 680 Monogram Series, as the first-ever two-seater in the brand’s history and the sportiest Maybach model to date. The roadster expands the  current lineup of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, GLS, and EQS SUV, showing the sub-brand’s commitment to redefining modern luxury with comfort and grandeur since their reintroduction in 2022.

The Mercedes-Maybach SL combines beauty and sophistication through two design concepts:

  • “White Ambience” – Obsidian black metallic in the upper section of the vehicle and MANUFAKTUR opalite white magno in the lower section
  • “Red Ambience” – Obsidian black metallic contrasted with MANUFAKTUR garnet red metallic, developed for the first time for the new two-seater.

In addition to the two curated colour concepts, more than 50 MANUFAKTUR paint colours are available on request. The colour palette is inspired by the tones of precious stones, minerals or natural phenomena such as Côte d’Azur Blue, as well as current colour trends from fashion, architecture and design.

The open-top two-seater is the first Maybach model with brand-specific, chrome-finished radiator grille with fine vertical slats, that has an A-shape contour. In typical sports-car fashion, the visual centre of gravity is shifted downwards. The contour of the grille is illuminated, along with the integrated Maybach lettering, with a front apron boasting horizontal air intakes and chrome trim to emphasise sporty character.

“Singapore is a market that embraces individuality and exclusivity,” said Marcel Luis Mustelier Perez, President & CEO of Mercedes-Benz Singapore

The rear is characterised by taillights featuring the Maybach logo, a brand-specific rear apron with chrome trim, as well as a dedicated diffuser design. A brand-typical tailpipe trim with a horizontal bar rounds off the elegance. The chrome fin on the bonnet and inserts in the side member trim give the two seater an elegant touch, enhanced by an acoustic-comfort soft top made of a fabric in a light black colour with a discreetly integrated anthracite coloured Maybach pattern. The car sits on 21-inch forged wheels, available in a five-hole or multi-spoke design.

To further enhance exclusivity, the bonnet in obsidian black metallic is available on request with an integrated Maybach pattern in graphite grey solid. The production of this printed bonnet is subject to complex technical requirements and the highest precision, consisting of four coats of clear lacquer and three sanded coats for extraordinary depth effect. Each layer of clear lacquer is sanded by hand, which takes several hours and requires precise craftsmanship.

The interior conveys lightness and space. Crystal white, sustainably tanned MANUFAKTUR Exclusive Nappa leather creates an airy, elegant ambience. It enhances the seats, door panels, centre console, as well as the space behind the seats, with a new floral design.

Maybach standards also apply to driving and acoustic comfort. It offers a unique driving experience that combines the tranquillity and power characteristic of the brand. Comprehensive insulation measures road noise, while the noise-optimised exhaust system is equipped with the maximum possible proportion of insulating materials. The muffler makes the Mercedes Maybach SL even quieter thanks to inlays of recyclable fibreglass textile.

Agile and powerful, the open-top two-seater is ideally prepared for both relaxed cruising and sporty driving. It offers a high level of Maybach comfort combined with the sophisticated driving dynamics of an SL. Maybach specific values for the damper hydraulics and softer steel springs allow the suspension to respond even more sensitively. The four driving programmes Comfort, Maybach, Sport and Individual support a wide range of driving experiences. The softened accelerator pedal characteristics in the Comfort and Maybach programmes make the response to driving commands smoother and more refined.

The combination of a 4.0-litre biturbo engine with 430 kW (585hp) output and smooth-shifting 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission ensures dynamic driving pleasure. Fully variable 4MATIC+ all wheel drive and an electronically controlled rear-axle locking differential offer excellent traction. Standard rear-axle steering combines agility and stability for a manoeuvrable and safe driving experience.

“Singapore is a market that embraces individuality and exclusivity, and this is reflected in our more than 80 percent growth in Top-End Vehicle sales this year,” said Marcel Luis Mustelier Perez, President & CEO of Mercedes-Benz Singapore. “Mercedes-Maybach has been a clear highlight of this momentum, and with the new Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series — Maybach’s first-ever two-seater — we now bring a dynamic, open-air expression of Maybach luxury tailored for the most discerning customers.”
