
Smart launches its biggest model to date, bringing greater versatility and a wider range of options for the Singapore market
Singapore – on 17 September, Cycle & Carriage (C&C) and smart Automobile officially launched the smart #5 at a media day at NOMADS Cafe in Seletar. As the brandโs first mid-size SUV, the model lineup builds on the smart #1 and #3 to offer greater space, versatility, and advanced technology through the brand to meet the diverse needs of Singaporean customers.

As smartโs largest car to date, the #5 embodies the design language of โLove, Pure, Unexpectedโ, that blends sophistication with modern aesthetics. Signature design elements include a panoramic halo roof, frameless doors, and short front and rear overhangs to create a sleek and dynamic silhouette. An outdoor-inspired design creates a distinctively rugged character as well. Design highlights in the #5 include oblong front and rear headlights, dual-coloured mirrors, and line=specific features such as floating wheel caps that remain upright while driving.

With a 2,900mm wheelbase between a 4,695mm length, the smart #5 ensures sufficient space for all passengers, as well as 34 storage compartments, a 72L frunk, and rear cargo space of up to 1,530L. All seats can also be adjusted to transform the cockpit into a comfortable resting and sleeping area.



The interior combines modern design with premium materials, starting with the front seats upholstered in leather with a 121-degree of recline. The rear leather seats offer market-leading headroom of 1,060mm. A one-button โFirst Classโ comfort mode setting offers passengers more legroom as well.
Now for the tech on the interior, the smart #5โs beating heart is a human-machine interface (HMI) system equipped with a 25.6-inch Augmented Reality Heads-up Display, a 10.3-inch Ultra HD LCD instrument cluster, as well as two 13-inch AMOLED 2.5K displays. Paired with smartโs avatars, key functions are available with voice control, including phone calls and messages, music and media, climate control, navigation, personal and vehicle settings, as well as all internet functions.

Tapping on an AMD V2000 high-computing-power chip, the processor renders real-time effects based on the Unreal Engine for a responsive and smooth journey. To enhance driving pleasure, the #5 is equipped with the Sennheiser Signature Sound System, featuring 20 high-performance speakers. The raising speaker with ambient lighting synchronises with the music rhythm for a unique audio-visual experience. With multiple input formats and a range of customisation options across a full 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos setup, the system delivers an adaptable and immersive listening environment on the road.

The #5 is the first EV built on the 800-volt platform, the 100kWh battery delivering 590km of WLTP range, with a super-charging function of up to 400kW, enabling a charge of 70% capacity in 15 minutes.
On top of improvements to battery and passenger safety features, the #5 is also equipped with advanced safety features. These include ADAS hardware and software configurations that have been enhanced over the #1 and #3 with upgrades that offer more accurate and optimised driving assistance functions through the smart Pilot Assist. The steel-aluminium hybrid body balances performance and lightness, utilising high-strength steel and aluminium alloy for increased rigidity and protection while maintaining agility.


The Singapore market has launched two trims of the smart #5. The entry-level #5 Pro comes with a 400V, 76kWh lithium iron phosphate battery (LFP) with advanced comfort elements, a panoramic halo roof, seamless connectivity and driver assistance systems. The #5 Premium provides upgraded experiences with enhanced ambient lighting, a 20-speaker Sennheiser sound system, ventilated seats, and faster charging speeds.
