Another Chinese automobile brand hits our shores. JMEV debuts the ELIGHT sedan
Singapore – On 29th July, one of China’s rising EV powerhouses, JMEV, officially launched in Singapore through its exclusive distributor Valor Auto at the new JMEV showroom at Telok Kurau. With the slogan, “HERO YOURSELF”, JMEV encourages drivers to take control of their journey, embrace innovation, and move confidently toward a sustainable future.
JMEV is a subsidiary of the state-owned Jiangling Motors Group (JMCG) that was established in 1947. As the second country in Southeast Asia to welcome JMEV, they bring to Singapore decades of automotive expertise, forward-thinking innovation, and a firm commitment to sustainability. With the addition of international recognition and strategic support, including a key investment by Renault Group in 2019, JMEV has rapidly emerged as a serious contender in the global EV space.
In its launch, JMEV debuted the all-electric ELIGHT, a sport-coupe-inspired 5-seater sedan that blends everyday practicality with smart design, long range, and practical spaciousness. Sitting atop 17-inch aluminium alloy wheels, its exterior is accentuated by matrix LED headlights, and clean lines across a modern profile with a fixed panoramic roof and flushed door handles for aerodynamics.
Driving the ELIGHT is kept intuitive and convenient. The interior retains an assortment of physical buttons, but is also complemented by a 14.6-inch multimedia screen and a 7-inch driver instrument screen to retain a high-tech but user-friendly driver experience. A generous 410L boot ensures your everyday errands and adventures are adequately supported as well.
Its sleek aesthetics are matched by its smart performance. Powered by a Category A-friendly 108kW electric motor and a 63kWh battery, the ELIGHT delivers 108kW (147hp) of power and 225Nm, completing the century sprint in 8.9 seconds. It also boasts a tested range of up to 600km in urban conditions, making it versatile and ideal for both city drives and weekend getaways.
The ELIGHT is also armed with a set of Intelligent Driving Controls, including a 360° AVM visual system for enhanced safety and control, cruise control, and rear cross traffic alert. Safety assist systems like Collision Automatic Power Off, as well as Tyre Pressure Monitoring, are just some in a list of features, which provide added confidence.
